Researchers from the journal PLOS Medicine have proven that there is no upper limit to safe exercise. The results of the analysis show directly – the more activity in our lives, the more quality they will be!

Until now, the World Health Organization (WHO) has argued that physical exercise should be between 150 and 300 minutes per week. Exceeding the set limit was supposed to be connected with a considerable risk. However, American scientists have come to a completely different conclusion, according to which too intensive physical exercise is bad for health and can be safely placed among myths.

The five-year study involved more than 90,000 healthy people – both men and women. The results showed that the volunteers who exercised the most (25%) boasted the most impressive reduction in cardiovascular disease risk (54-63%). Meanwhile, in those whose exercise was moderate or fairly intense, the health-promoting effect was already slightly smaller at 48-57%.

The results therefore show a simple correlation – the greater and more intense our daily physical activity is, the better health effects it brings! The initiators of the whole project are convinced that the benefits of regular training may turn out to be even greater than previously assumed. Additionally, it has been noticed that people who exercise more intensely tend to avoid stimulants, as well as being more careful about maintaining a healthy body weight.

This is great news for all lovers of a good workout! Now we know that we don’t have to limit ourselves at all, and the frequency and intensity of the training units performed should be determined solely by caring about our own health and the amount of free time we can devote to it.
