Eggs are an integral part of the daily diet, but experts say that they can also form the basis of a slimming menu. What is the egg diet like?

The most important rules

Egg diet is an idea of American nutritionists from Mayo Clinic. According to them, following this type of diet for about two weeks helps cleanse and nourish the body, as well as lose a few extra pounds. However, some specialists emphasize that the egg diet is best used for a maximum of 5 days. As the name suggests, eggs are the basis of the daily diet. According to the rules, every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner you should eat a total of 6 eggs, two for each meal.

Eggs should be hard boiled for a maximum of 10 minutes. After this time, the protein loses its nutrients and becomes more difficult to digest by the digestive system. An integral part of the egg diet is drinking about 3 liters of water or green tea every day and enriching each meal with fresh vegetables and fruits.

It is worth remembering that fruit must be low in calories, so during the diet bananas, avocados, grapes or cherries should be excluded from the menu. What is more, the diet assumes the exclusion of bread, pasta, rice, leguminous vegetables and minimizing the consumption of sugar and salt.

How to follow this diet properly?

A diet based on a high intake of eggs is primarily aimed at people who want to reduce their weight effectively and efficiently in a short period of time. The diet is quite restrictive, so after returning to standard eating habits, you should watch out for the yoyo effect. However, experts believe that gradually reducing the amount of eggs consumed can reduce this phenomenon and maintain the effects of the diet for longer.

The creators of the menu have not singled out any health contraindications for its use, but for safety reasons it is advisable to consult a doctor before starting it.

Following the recommended rules of the diet is not only a proven way to lose weight, but also an effective way to provide the body with essential nutrients. Eggs contain large amounts of nutritious protein, carbohydrates, fiber for easier digestion and substances that remove harmful toxins from the body.

Versions of this way of eating are several. In some of them, among other things, the consumption of cooked poultry is allowed. This element will be great as an addition to lunch or a nutritious dinner. It is worth remembering that the menu assumes only three meals throughout the day. In the case of the most basic variant of the egg diet for breakfast you can eat two hard-boiled eggs (without mayonnaise), a salad and half a grapefruit. As an addition, you can drink a glass of black coffee or green tea. For lunch, in addition to boiled eggs, a salad based on spinach, lettuce, cucumber, onion and tomato will be good. For dinner you can eat two eggs and about 200 grams of your favorite fruit or seasonal vegetable. Drink a glass of water or a mug of green tea with lemon with each meal.
